Ford quadrupling the number of electric-vehicle dealers

fordFord is putting some real muscle behind its electric vehicles, planning to more than quadruple the number of dealers who can sell plug-in vehicles from 200 to 900, according to a report in the Detroit News earlier this month.

When all 900 of those dealers come on line this spring with specially trained sales and service staff, plus at least two on-site charging stations, approximately one-third of all Ford U.S. dealers will be able sell plug-in EVs.

Ford is pushing sales of the Focus Electric, and the C-Max Energi and Fusion Energi plug-in hybrids, all manufactured here in Michigan.

This might be the time to buy or lease one of those Ford vehicles; Ford is offering discounts of more than $10,000 to lease the Focus Electric, and dropped the base price by $2,000 for cash sales, with 1.9 percent financing if purchased through Ford credit.
